A module is a focused, self-paced learning unit built around a single topic or skill — for example, downloading digital elevation model (DEM) data or automating a streamflow analysis in Python. Modules can include video, text, quizzes, and other materials, and can be taken on their own or combined into a full course.

A course combines one or more modules into a complete, in-depth learning path, along with a description and (optionally) an achievement — a badge or certificate you unlock by completing it. Browse courses from the learning home, work through the materials in order, and track your progress from your dashboard.

A module is a single focused unit; a course is one or more modules combined into a complete path, usually with an achievement attached. If you're an instructor, you can use an existing module on its own to supplement your own teaching, or combine modules (yours or others') into a new course.

Achievements are badges or certificates that unlock automatically when you meet a course's criteria, such as completing the course or a specific module. Badges are lightweight recognitions you collect as you go; certificates are formal documents generated with your name, the instructor's name, and the completion date. See the user guide for more.
