I applied to be an instructor or community admin — now what?

Applications are reviewed by a site administrator, not automatically. You'll receive an email once a decision is made. See Becoming an instructor or community leader.

What's the difference between a module and a course?

A module is a single focused learning unit — video, text, quizzes, or other materials built around one topic or skill — and can be taken on its own. A course combines one or more modules into a complete, in-depth learning path, usually with an achievement attached. If you're an instructor, you can use an existing module on its own to supplement your own teaching, or combine modules into a new course — see Building a course.

What's the difference between a badge and a certificate?

Both are achievements you unlock by meeting a course's criteria. Badges are lightweight recognitions; certificates are formal documents generated with your name, the instructor's name, and a completion date, meant for sharing or printing. See Achievements, badges & certificates.

What's the difference between a Community and a Group?

Communities, as described throughout this guide, are public or invite-based spaces with their own courses, announcements, and discussions that any learner can join. "Groups," used elsewhere on the site, refers to internal research-group administration and is managed by staff — it isn't part of the learner/instructor/community-leader experience covered here.

I lost access to something I used to have

If you were removed or suspended from a community, rejoining reactivates your previous membership. If you believe your instructor or community-admin permissions were removed in error, contact a site administrator.

Something in this guide doesn't match what I see

Features evolve, and this guide may occasionally lag behind. If you spot a mismatch, mention it in the Forum so it can be corrected.
